The World is poetry

#20 If I ever

I grow older with each passing day

Time spins on the dial around and around

If I ever wished to go back

I could only do so in my memories which are fragmented and ripped at the seams

If I ever wish see into my future to know what I would become

Then the wish would be unfulfilled for there are no such visions nor could I travel that far in time

If I ever still ungrateful for what right now brings

Tell me to stop, for I will never be pleased by the words it’ll get better because you can’t see either

If I ever cry for the work I have to do now

Remind me what good things my work has gotten me in days before

If I ever let myself be weighed down by the ghosts of the past

Remind me that they are just that and but memories of something long gone

Most of all if I ever stop trying, stop testing mine and others limits, stop trying to understand the world, stop believing in the potential for something great

Then I am not myself anymore, and that is when you should truly be worried
